I have always loved the play of light on glass, from the colours in a cathedral stained glass window to the sun shining through the vases of flowers on my kitchen window ledge.
I'm fascinated by the history of glassmaking and the extraordinary skills that have resulted in the simplicity of a Roman perfume bottle and the elaborate decorativeness of a Venetian goblet. Pictures of beautiful Etruscan, Egyptian, Greek and Roman glass jewellery inspired me to try my hand at glass. Beads seemed a manageable size and the immediacy of the results appealed to me!

For several years now I have had my own workshop and studio in which I hand make beads. I find it totally absorbing and fascinating: no two beads are exactly the same. I love the element of unpredictability in the work and the little excitement that comes as the beads cool down and the colours and patterns are revealed from the red heat.

Most of my jewellery is made to order. I love the process of working with someone to design their piece, thinking about the subtleties of colour and texture, pattern, size and balance. Then there's the pleasure of seeing it take shape, bead by bead.....

My jewellery is in private collections in Australia, England, America, Japan, France, Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
